I'll post links to the skins I've used, but I've modified them pretty heavily for my use. I'm pretty pleased with how this one turned out. So, it can be cool for those who love to get. This is the second Rainmeter desktop I've put together, I used my prior suite for like a year with only minor edits, so I'll probably be with this one for a long time. It represents the signal level when you are listening to music or any other audio from your PC or from the internet like YouTube. Geektool is also much more oriented towards people who are familiar with the command line, as it runs nearly entirely on bash scripts. This cool and amazingly different Rainmeter skin has a VU meter that shows the level of the audio by placing the needle on the numbers written against it. VU Meters are a great desktop enhancement if you have a multi-monitor setup and enjoy using your PC as a music device. Most VU meters have settings which will change the color, size, and breadth of the lines displayed. For Mac users, there is Geektool, which performs many of the same basic functions such as displaying info on the desktop and some basic widgets, though there isn’t as big of a community following behind it, so the options for skins are limited. Volume Unit (VU) meters create a display of the audio playing on your computer. If you’re on a Mac or Linux, unfortunately you’re out of luck, as there isn’t a Rainmeter build for OS X or Linux. I do have a skinthe refreshed rainmeter when I click on it but it would be nice to have a skin to do that for me automatically. Adding the following line to the Rainmeter section at the top of the skin auto launches the exe when the skin is run. on my PC 'E:\Data Files\Rainmeter\Skins\Old Stereo\VU Meter'). Most skins have comments in the configuration file, so it’s easy to tell what controls what. Whenever I switch between my laptop speakers and headphones I have to refresh rainmeter to get my VU meters to start working again. I have extracted the 'Release' folder in in the skin folder and renamed it 'VU meter' for simplicity - i.e. Right click on a skin and hit “Edit skin”, which will bring up a configuration file with lots of variable definitions.įor example, if you wanted to change the color of the outer rim of this clock, you can edit the values of the variable that controls that. If you want to get your hands dirty with the code behind the skins, it isn’t too complex. To fix the progress bar issue you will need to configure the variables within the player.ini to webnowplayer or use spicetify widget. Troubleshooting: Close the options window during installation. Optionally, you may reset your skin settings to the latest defaults by using the Clean Install skin version inside the top-most dated link. Download skin (1.4 MB) Right-side of this page. Only the buttons (stop, pause, skip) and song name will work. Installation: Download Rainmeter (2 MB) Windows 7, 8, 10. Rainmeter allows for an amazing amount of customization. Yes, the Desktop VU-Meter LITE edition rainmeter theme does support spotify however you won’t be able to see the progress of the song.
